In this article, we will explain to you how to use two-factor authentication (2FA) within WeGuide, so that you can log in to the WeGuide system in case your organisation has 2FA turned on.
How to use two-factor authentication within WeGuide.
In order to turn on 2FA for your organisation, please contact your Implementation Manager. Once it is setup you can follow the steps underneath to access your account.
Step 1: Login or create your account.
- When 2FA is turned on by your organisation, the next time you log in as a new user or when you're setting up your account, you will be prompted to set up your 2FA. If you want to understand how you can sign up as a new user, then please read this article.
Step 2: Setup your 2FA
- If you haven't set up your 2FA yet, you will be asked to set it up. In order to set up 2FA, you need an authenticator app. This app will be used to generate a unique code every time you log in to WeGuide. Authentication apps are available for mobiles and tablets, but there are also desktop solutions available. Underneath a few examples of authenticator apps that you could use
- Google Authentication
- Authy
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Once you have installed an authenticator app, click on add a new account. You will now be prompted to scan a QR code.
- After you've logged in with your password in WeGuide, you will be instructed to set up 2FA. Click on View QR code and a QR-code will display. Scan this code with your authentication app.
Clicking on VIEW QR CODE will display your QR code
Your QR code is now visible and can be scanned
- In case you're not able to scan the QR code with your device, you can enter the QR code manually by using the code that is displayed underneath the QR code. (Select "time-based" as the method, in case that's being asked.)
- Now that you have scanned the QR code with your authenticator app (or entered it manually), a 6 digit code will become visible in your authenticator app. Enter this code in the "Enter your verification code" section. If it's valid you will be granted access.
- 2FA should now be setup!
Step 3: Log in with 2FA
- In case you haven't set up 2FA yet but you already have an account, you will be instructed to set up 2FA first. The instructions can be found in Step 2: Setup your 2FA
- If you have set up 2FA, the next time you log in, you will be asked for a verification code, which can be generated in your authenticator app or by means of one of your backup codes. Open your authenticator app, click on the WeGuide account and enter the code. In case you don't have your authenticator app with you, you can use one of your backup codes. In case you have lost your backup code, please contact your organisation, they can help you to reset your account.
