Using HealthKit in your program

In order to collect data with Apple Healthkit, you will need to follow a few steps. Follow the instructions mentioned in this article or try the interactive demo underneath.

Step 1: Enable Health data in your program the template list view

• While setting up your program, enable Record Health Data and select Healthkit as your data source and ECG as the data type that you want to collect. Currently only ECG data is supported, in the future we will support other data types.

Toggle Record Health Data on and select Healthkit and ECG in the fields underneath.

Step 2: Explain to your users why you need to collect health data 

• Now that you've selected the data points that you want to collect, you can explain to your participants why you would like to have access to this data. Explaining what data you need and why you need it will help to motivate participants to give access to their data. See below for an example:
  • For this program, we would like to collect your ECG data. This data will be used to understand how your heart is behaving after you've received surgery and are at home. This data will only be used for clinical purposes and won't be shared outside your clinical team. You can find more information about our Privacy Policy here.

Step 3: Save your program  

• Now that your program is set up, save your program to start collecting health data in your program. Participants will be asked to give access to Healthkit after they login to the application for the first time on their iOS device.
